Not all of our Sycamores community have English as their first language, taking this into consideration we believe it is really important for the children to learn about the communities and traditions native to their families. Below there is a page with lots of links for traditional stories and songs in different languages, enjoy!
The BBC are providing a wide range of home teaching resources both on their television channel and website. Below is the link to the Cbeebies website, where you can find a variety of games, stories and activities to play with your child, enjoy!
Below please find our planning that we are following in nursery and ways that you can do this if you are choosing to keep your child at home.
Please don’t forget to send any ‘Learning observations’ to nursery via Evidence Me.
Week commencing 18th January –
In Sycamores, we often use hand signs along with our words in order to help the children understand what is being said and to teach them new words. Here is Deanna modelling these signs, see if you can practice some of these at home!
In Sycamores we are always singing, so we thought we would share with you the link and some Nursery Rhyme song sheets that we use in Nursery so that you can enjoy singing lots of Nursery Rhymes at home!
The children have been enjoying dancing to the Christmas music and wanted to show off their amazing moves.
Click the video and make sure to watch to the end as the children have a little something they would like to say to you all…
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!
The children in Sycamores have been very busy the last couple of weeks, getting into the festive mood with a range of activities. The festive fun has been non-stop, we have wrapped up presents, made paper chains, written letters to Santa and posted them in our very special post box. We have decorated the Christmas tree and made our very own tree out of sticks!
And the most anticipated time of the day has been….ADVENT CALENDAR TIME! The children have enjoyed finding out who will get the advent chocolate at the end of the day and counting down the days until Santa will come and visit them at home.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The children have been working very hard the last few weeks to learn all the words and actions to our Christmas songs and make sure they were all ready for you to see!
They were all so proud of themselves and we are extremely proud of them too!
So grab a drink and snack and make yourselves comfy…
We are proud to present to you….
What brilliant walking! The Sycamores have done amazing walking during our Welly Walk, the children were eager to take on the challenge of walking around the BIG field. Our walks took place over a week so that every child could have a go. They enjoyed spotting all the autumnal sights along the way, they stopped at the top of the hill and looked out to see what they could see. As they walked, they sang songs, picked up leaves and there was even a running race or two.
Well Done Sycamores!
and a BIG thankyou to you all for your amazing fundraising!
The children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in our Autumnal activities. We have been on leaf walks and looked at all the different colours that appear on the trees during Autumn. We have celebrated Halloween, by making witches potions and hammering pumpkins. We have also celebrated Bonfire night, the children got to experience a fire with Carol at forest school, they got to see sparklers and try some new foods…Jacket potatoes and Chocolate covered marshmallows!
Thankyou to all those who donated towards our Bonfire activites! The children had a great time!
